Daniel co-founded Vecna in 1998 with the mission of empowering humanity through transformative technologies. Foregoing outside investments, he grew Vecna to serve a global customer base and gain recognition as a world leading robotics company. For more than three decades, Daniel has been designing robots including the renowned Bear disaster recovery robot, and a powerful fleet of intelligent, next generation mobile robots to support the manufacturing, shipping and order-fulfillment industries. His work also includes advanced automation components, such as a biomimetic muscle, advanced hydraulics and machine perception technology.
Daniel is also co-founder and president of MassRobotics, an independent, nonprofit, industry consortium dedicated to fostering the global robotics community. The organization serves as an innovation hub for robotics and connected devices. MassRobotics brings innovative startups, investors, and customers together to nurture the next generation of talent, and promote innovation and economic growth for the robotics industry.Daniel graduated at the top of his class from MIT and was honored with the Henry Ford II Scholar Award. He continued his graduate work as an NSF fellow in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Laboratory at MIT, developing web-based control algorithms for a robotic Mars explorer. His academic record and research earned him an award from the prestigious Hertz Foundation.
